Tailoring NetSuite Income Statement for Departmental Expense Visibility

If you’re looking to gain valuable insights into your company’s operations, efficiency of management, or underperforming areas, you’ll want to be able to customize your NetSuite income statement to show expenses by department. A client recently called us to find out how to do just this within NetSuite Financial Reports. Luckily, our Limebox SuiteMates Admin team had an answer at the ready… and now you do, too.

01. Step One

Navigate to:

• Reports > Financial > Income Statement
• Click the “Customize” button
• In the “Edit layout” screen, click on the Expense section of the layout
• In the “Account” Section: Expense pane, simply select “Department” in the Group by dropdown, and select “Account” in the Then by dropdown

If you view the details from here you will see that the report retains the grouping automatically, without also having to customize it.
